Song For Springtime

Good Evening Everyone! How are you? I had a hectic morning on Sunday because I had no idea that the clocks were going forward! I was awake at 11am, but it was actually 12, and so I was late for work, Eek! my boss didn't mind though, hehe.

What music is everyone listening to these days? I remember the good old days when S Club and Steps were the height of cool! I heart S Club; apparently they're having a reunion tour,YAY! Recently I have updated my music library, and these are the songs that have been stuck in my head the most. Inside my head it is like a constant disco- I'm always replaying one song or another. I have decided to transfer my head songs into your head, enjoy!

Drive By, by Train

We Owned The Night, by Lady Antebellum

A Nova Vida, Musical Score for Breaking Dawn Part 1, by Carter Burwell

Let me know some of your favourite songs do that I can check them out. Happy Listening!

Phenomenal Photograpy

Hey girlies! How are you all today?
Sorry for the cringe-tastic title, but in today's post I am going to share some of the best photography that I have ever seen. Of course I have seen hundreds of photos, and perhaps some of the highlights are the ones where sentimentality is encased within the pixels, but all these photos are equally special. I have come to love photography more and more in the last few years, probably because I actually have a camera now! I adore how it is possible to capture a moment, and preserve it for even just a little while longer.

So, without further ado, here are some amazingly artsy and creative shots, they are truly the epitome of phenomenal photography. Personally, my favourite of the photos is the one of the couple kissing in the rain. I have always wanted to be kissed in the rain. This ideal has most likely come from listening to too many taylor Swift songs (Fearless, for example, features the rainy kisses). Maybe one day...

Have a fabulous Tuesday tomorrow, and if you have any favourite photos, or want to share some of your own photography, Please leave a response below! I would also like to know which one of these photos is tour favourite? Are you romantic like me, or do you prefer the glitter? Thanks for dropping by,

Jenny xx

(This post is mainly pictures, I you do not like that sort of thing then I apologise, but it was requested several times. The photos have been obtained via Google and photo sharing websites, and I do not claim to own any of them.)

Happy Spring!

Hey guys!

This is just a quick post to wish you all Happy Spring! Even if you don't enjoy (more of an autumn girl?) it, it's still nice to get time out of college. It feels like these nearly 4 months since Christmas have gone by in a week- I almost can't believe that a third of the year has gone by already!

Anyway, Happy Spring - Have a good one! Jenny xx

PS Don't you think the photo really captures spring?; spring showers, blooming flowers, pretty colours and cute animals(or insects?)!

In The Mood To Inspire

Hello everyone! How are y'all? I hope that your week has started well.
My post about Mylo Xyloto was the last in my mini-series on what I'm majorly obsessed with at the moment. Please leave a comment if you would like me to do more mini-series on my blog, an feel free to request any posts you'd like to see me write.

So, recently, some people might have been feeling down, or just a bit confused as to where their going(metaphorically, of course). I decided to write this post for my close friend who has been feeling that way for a bit now. I just want her, and everyone else out there to know that there is always something to be inspired by, or be inspired to do, or a chance to become an inspiration. Even if you are merely stressed out about exams(just breathe!) or struggling at something simple, we all need some inspiration, which is exactly why I compiled my favourite inspirational ditties and quotes to motivate you. I know, I know, they're all a bit cliché and cringy, but everyone needs cringe once in a while.

My favourite of the quotes is the one by George Elliot;
"Its never too late to be go you might have been"
I find that by just reading this quote once, it provides the motivation I need to feel a desire to push myself forward, and always pursue my goals.

I really do wish that these quotes may bring you some inspiration on a darker day, and a reminder that it only goes up from here.

The Book vs. The Movie

Hello my chums! I am in a very jolly mood today! The sun has been shining, and I have been frolicking in a meadow with my boyfriend; haha, I wish. I have just had a great day, you know the kind. How has your day been? I will be very jealous indeed if you have been frolicking in the sun with your boyf!

Recently a lot of the books I have chosen to read have eventually been adapted into a movie, (I pick well!) so I thought to myself, I will write a blog about which was better, the book or the movie, or if in fact they tied with being equally bad or good.

First up is the renowned Dear John, beloved by sappy romantic girls wanting to read or watch a love story. However, the fact remains that in the book Dear John is not really a love story at all. There is romance and a relationship in it, but the main focus is projected onto the military and fighting aspect if the plot. And the famous Dear John love letters? There is only one, and it is a break up letter. The movie adaptation is extremely inaccurate when compared with the book, and I have to say that I really don't appreciate Channing Tatum's attempt at acting. Sorry, but it had to be said. Unfortunately Nicholas Sparks has not done it this time, two thumbs down for Dear John.

The mother of all vampire fiction novels has to be Twilight, doesn't it? Breaking Dawn is by far my favourite book and movie of the saga, and that's not just because there is more content to read. I love the character development leading up to, and during Breaking Dawn, especially in Jacob. I also liked meeting all of the new character who were introduced in Breaking Dawn. And before you ask, I was always Team Edward in the books and Team Jacob on the screen, but then Robert Pattinson got hot and I don't know which team to pick, so I'm Team Edcob. I must say that this choice between the movie and the book has proved very challenging. I have come to the conclusion that they are equally great. The book is so detailed and interesting but the movie is truly beautiful and mesmerising. I'm tied fifty/fifty.

What world would we live in without the glorious works of teenage romance novelist Meg Cabot, namely The Princess Diaries. I know it seems childish, but I love these books! There is a certain likeability to Mia which makes her a great character, and all of the other characters are fun too, very realistic, if you get what I mean. When I read this series(there are ten books in total, and all of them have totally awesome names), I found myself really getting into the story. Also, I am kind of in love with Michael, if you've read them, you'll understand. Although, the movie was a bit of a let down. The story has been changed a lot, and some crucial plot lines missed out. The whole plot of the second movie is not included in the book series at all. The books would definitely win it for me, hands down.

Is there even a bad word to say about Sara Gruen's Water For Elephants? The book completely captivated me, and I was mesmerised by the pure talent in the movie adaptation. The story, set in 1931, follows a young man who joins the circus in a fit of spontaneity and despair. Similarly when I read as watched Water For Elephants I felt like I had been transported back to 1931, and I was right there in the circus. Sara Gruen's writing is truly enchanting, and the directors of the movie didn't do a bad job either. I keep the book on my night stand because I'll always fall back on my trusty copy if any other books aren't so great, and my DVD is just waiting to be re-watched.

And her comes the inevitable. How could I put Breaking Dawn on the list, but exclude Harry Potter? A series beloved by millions, I am one of those trivia know it alls when it cones to Harry Potter, seriously, you'd want me on your quiz team. I was, and still am infatuated with Harry Potter(but not in a 'lovey' way), ever since I first picked up the books about two years ago after being badgered by a friend to read them for ages. In all honesty I don't know why I hadn't read them before that, all I knew was that i had been missing out. I finished all of the books in a month, but if I re-read them now I could do it in about two weeks - believe me, I have re-read them many times. The movies are undeniably as big a part of British culture as the book series, however, the books will always rein for me. I can't imagine not having the movies now, but the books disclose many more extra details, which I like. Also, I'm not keen on seeing Rupert Grint's snail-trail, like we did in the last movie(euughk). I'd much rather read about their adventures and leave the visual up to my imagination.

As you can probably tell, I am a major bookworm and movie fanatic. If you would like me to review a book or movie please leave the title in the comments, I would live to hear about it. This post was not meant to deter you from reading or watching certain things as these are my personal opinions, but I thought that you would like to hear my point of view on them. Have a great weekend!

Happy reading/watching;

Jenny xx

Kinda Obsessed; Mylo Xyloto

Just a quick pre-note to my blog; I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a while. My life has been crazy busy with exams and coursework for my college, and I really haven't had time. Also, I have been irrevocably absorbed and infatuated by a book series that I am reading currently; The Mortal Instruments. I'm on book number four now, The City of Fallen Angels, and I will recommend them to anyone. I know I wrote a whole blog post on my obsession with The Hunger Games, but this book series is ten times better than them! Although, with that being said, I am however, going to see The Hunger Games in cinemas on Friday, and am very excited. I will tell l you all about next week! And now, finally, on to my actual blog post:

Calling all music fans! I am actually obsessed with Coldplay's relatively new album, Mylo Xtyloto (pronounced my-lo zy-letoe, but to break it down one step further: my lo zy [rhymes with my] le [rhymes with the] toe). The sound is phenomenal.
"Music comes from a place we don't know," Martin told the New York Times.  "It sort of comes through the fingers and toes," he continued. "So we came up with the idea of, what if you had musical digits, like xylo toes?" Martin concluded.
According to the Times article, Martin immediately "shook his head, irritated that he gave up the secret so easily." So... musical toes, presumably like xylophone toes? Whether that information leak clears up anything is open for debate, but his fans probably shouldn't expect normal names from a singer with a daughter named Apple.
When pressed about "Mylo," he responded, "It's just a great name. For anything."

I think that the arrogant (and partial) reasoning behind my liking of this album is the fact that I'm British., or English to be precise. I believe that I speak on behalf of my countries true souls when I say that we stick by our nation, and I am doing just that by supporting Coldplay, but also because I am insanely in love with their music as well! I think that the sound in this album is border lining on slightly techno- which i am not a fan of!, but somehow I do find my self pressing the repeat icon on my iPod for every song of theirs I listen to.

My sister was the one who started me on my Coldplay obsession. I had heard their song before, well, obviously- I don't live in a hole! She is going to see Coldplay in June with her friend, and I am soo jealous of them! currently, my favourite songs are Princess of China, Paradise and Charlie Brown, but there all great. The album includes the songs:
  1. Mylo Xyloto
  2. Hurts Like Heaven
  3. Paradies
  4. Charlie Brown
  5. Us Against the World
  6. M.M.I.X
  7. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
  8. Major Minus
  9. U.F.O
  10. Princess of China (feat. Rihanna)
  11. Up in Flames
  12. A Hopeful Transmission
  13. Don't Let it Break Your Heart
  14. Up With the Birds
If you do get the chance, go and check out these songs, they're actually really great! I really hope that I will inspire at least one of you to go and have a listen, if you haven't already; what have you got to lose?

Until next time. Jenny xx

Kinda Obsessed; My Favourite Times

Hi beauties! I hope you are feeling great today; I certainly am. I am very happy because it is my favourite time!

At first I could not decide what to call this blog post. I thought long and hard, but I couldn't find a collective word for what I wanted to write. Well, time pretty much sums it up. I have a favourite day, month and season, an I thought I would share them with you guys.

So, my favourite day... My favourite day of the week is actually Tuesday. Just look at the word, isn't it wonderful; the spelling, the way it sounds, I love it. I love the way that the 'u' and the 'e' fit next to each other. Two of the same, vowels, right there together. Much like I enjoy looking at the French word for Sister: Sœur. The 'œ' is so cool, I am a bit obsessed. Anyone who has read The Wolves of Mercy Falls series' will know that the protagonist, Sam, also thinks thy Tuesdays are awesome, but I liked them the best even before reading the books. I also enjoy that Tuesday is not the start of the week but not the middle or end. It has no real place, really. Sometimes I feel like that, that me and Tuesday match up, but then I remember that I am middle child and i know that I am in the middle, not no-where (I'm convinced that I have Middle Child Syndrome!). But despite Tuesday not having a place, I do think that the word and the day is are light hearted, airy and open, like the vowels in the middle of it.

Going in order of size, I guess that my favourite month comes next. This was an easy choice because it's my birthday month; May. I like for many reasons. First, it's my birthday month(there is always a preference to tour birthday month!). Second, I love the climate. Living in England, o know the climate is really bad and unpredictable, and when it is predicted, it is often rain, which bums me out. However, in May the weather is normally nice; not as cold as February and March, but not as hot as it can get in July and August. The weather is perfect for going down to the river, or walking the nearby trails or villages (there are a quite number). May just seems to have it all!

And that only leaves one time left, my favourite season. I don't really think that it counts as a 'time' frame, but I didn't know what else it would be. Anyway, my absolute favourite season is the Spring. Even the word looks cute.
I adore the way that the blossoms begin to bloom(there is a really cute tree a few doors down from me, and I smile every time I pass it), and the clouds begin to dissipate. I especially like driving past a pasture where baby lambs are walking(or stumbling- they are too cute!) after being spring babies. Also, I have the added bonus of being born in the springtime, which adds definite appeal to the season. I just can't get enough of spring- I wish it were extended so that it was all year.

Do you have a favourite day, month or season? Leave a response in the comments and I will see if you can sway me ...

Have a great rest of your week, and Happy Tuesday!

Kinda Obsessed; The Hunger Games

Hey Girlies! How are you all today? It has been really sunny today, and so I am in a good mood!

Today as part of my 'Kinda Obsessed' mini series, I am going to review The Hunger Games. This book series was a phenomenal read, and I would recommend it to anyone, although on thing about the book, it is very violent and almost bloodthirsty- if you do not like books with violence, death and fighting, then this book is unfortunate not for you.

First I will start off by introducing the books. The series consists of three books entitled The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, and were written by Suzanne Collins. The storyline goes a little something like this;
'The Hunger Games introduces sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panem where North America once stood. This is where a powerful government working in a central city called the Capitol holds power. In the book, the Hunger Games are an annual televised event where the Capitol chooses one boy and one girl from each district to fight to the death. The Hunger Games exist to demonstrate not even children are beyond the reach of the Capitol's power.
As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected at random and forced to participate in the Hunger Games, a televised event in which the participants, or "tributes", must fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena until only one remains.'

I must admit that The Hunger Games is not my kind of book. Usually I prefer a teenage romance(the Wolves of Mercy Falls series is truly excellent) or a fantastical fictional vampire novel( I am currently reading the 4th book in the Blue Bloods series), however, much to my surprise I honestly enjoyed the hunger games tremendously. I devoured all three book within the space of five days, and promptly lent them all out to friends whom I begged to read them; "you won't regret it," I said. And none of them have.

I adore Collins' writing style. She uses amazing descriptions and her imagination is obviously colossal. I really felt like the world of Panem was here, and I scared me a little, what a tortuous place, a new threat around every corner. I love most of the characters, especially Peeta, Katniss's on and off(on her part) boyfriend. Obviously there had to be a love interest in the books somewhere- a love triangle in this series! However I really don't like Katniss that much. In the novels( written I point of view) she is always so full of hate an poison. Although, when thinking about what she had been through, how could you blame her?

I really do adore these books, and I have read hundreds. There is just something about them that keeps you hooked, but in a good way. Also there I to be a film adaptation of the books too. The Hunger Games movie is to be released on the 23rd March 2012, and my friends an I have hastily booked tickets before they sell out. But don't go and see the movie without reading the books first! They really are worth your time.

If you do read, or have read The Hunger Games tell me what you think in the comments, also i you have any questions, ask away.

Have a nice start to the week!

Kinda Obsessed; My Style Icon

Hello to my lovely readers! How are you today? In my next few posts I am going to be writing a Mini-Series on things that am Kinda Obsessed about at the moment, like books, make up, designers, or in this case, Olivia Palmero, my style icon. I am going to share my style icon secrets with you today(well, its not really a secret who my style icon is).

But what is it exactly, to be a style icon?
Who knows, but in my mind, Olivia Palmero is pretty damn close! I would consider Olivia Palmero to be my style icon; I admire her outfits, her hair, her grace and just her general style. Olivia's style just has that certain je ne sais quoi which is oh so appealing and beautiful, although I think that the universe has been extremely kind to her, she would probably look great in a bin bag!

There are a few things which I have noticed about Olivia's style that keep appearing in every photo I see her in, these things are her signature, one could say. I love the fact that she has the ability to combine simple and understated garments in neutral yet girly colours and look amazing. She takes classic items, like jeans or a mac and develops a whole new, stylish an innovative outfit from them.

I also love that she carries a leather bag with her, all-the-time! I am kinda obsessed with leather handbags at the moment (ahh, if only I could afford a real leather one...), I think that they really tie an outfit together. Olivia has many different bag that I have seen her wear out, and each of them works with her outfit to make her look chic and über stylish.

I like the way that she combines textures in an outfit. Often she wears faux fur, or wet look items and she matches them with contrasting garnets that work together in a way that almost shouldn't, but does. I also idolise the ability that she has to transform everything she wears into the symbolism of femininity and grace.

I do wish that someday my style is good enough to be admired by one other person, like I'm admiring Olivia Palmero's because then I will have achieved my goal in life ; to inspire people with my personal style(I want to go into fashion journalism). Olivia Palmero, you have inspired me.

All that glitters isn't gold; it's PINK!

Hello to my lovely readers, how are you today?

I had an mediocre day, nothing too exciting, but nothing that made me super depressed! However, when I got back home after going out this morning, I was in the mood to try something that I have wanted to do for ages; Glitter Lips! After being inspired by a photo on Tumblr I wanted to try out this look for myself, and I must say that I am quite happy with the results.

To achieve this look, I applied the Barry M Touch of Magic Lipstick which turns to a hot pink on the alkali of my lips, followed by a clear gloss and I then patted some pink body glitter onto my lips with my fingers. If you wanted to replicate the look, any hot pink shade of lipstick would do, or you could even experiment with a different shade of lipstick and glitter altogether.

I think that this look would be really gorgeous on New Years Eve, or a special party, but not on a date if you're planning to smooch! The way that the glitter catches the light is simply stunning, and I can bet that you'll catch everyone's eye if you do decide to give it a go. I certainly enjoyed wearing the glitter because it made me feel very confident and girly, and even my friend commented that I looked like a princess!

I hope you like the results if try it out, and leave a comment to tell me what you thought!Have a nice Friday tommorow and speak to you soon, Jenny xx

(just a little side-note, I took the images myself, and if you like this sort of post let me know and I'll try and keep them up! xx)
